I couldn’t remember when I saw this movie and whom I saw it with so I dug out an old diary and right there between “Dentist” and “Lippa & Daisy’s cat fundraiser” was the entry for “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World with Pia, Ian & Vicky.” I can’t believe that was only 10 years ago. It seems a lot longer…maybe because of the way the movie looks back in nostalgia about another 10 years. I remember before I saw the movie wondering if I’d like it. I wasn’t much into video games, indie bands and graphic novels. But like any great movie, it brought me into its world and had a great universal message. Watching the 2020 reunion table-read online, I was really struck by how very talented all the actors are. Even in the medium of a Zoom meeting, they committed to their roles and knew how to play to their home cameras. It’s no wonder so many of them have gone on to have major roles in film and TV.
