It’s Episode 24 and all is right with the world! (Not really.) Join David and Ian for a little amateur psychoanalysis. This week they discuss the TV version of Psycho, the TV version of Casablanca and the French version of Psycho – Psycheau! Dave learns the deus ex machina of Quantum Leap; Ian tells Dave about a mysterious non-existence in the Bond films; Liam Neeson is forgiven; they learn that Sneaky Dragon is “stream of consciousness”, develop a mystery show for Nickelback; Dave briefly sings (as usual); Wrigley gum outrages Ian; tea is discussed at great length (some might say at too great a length); and Dave ends the show with a bang (not with a whimper).

Neat episode, gentlemen!
I do know someone who reminds me of Dave 🙂
BATES MOTEL was not great, save the presence in the pilot of the lovely Jason Batman. Hitchcock’s PSYCHO is of course, a classic. PSYCHO II is also excellent- the ending with Norman braining his mother with a shovel is still a gasp-making effect that holds up to this day. The ONE sequence I love in PSYCHO III that I love is Norman, in full Mother mode (and dress), pursuing nosy reporter lady up the stairs of the Bates house. Nosy reporter lady knocks a painting askew in her panic. Norman/Mother, pursuing, *straightens the picture* without stopping or even looking at it.
I have never to this day seen IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE. As a card-carrying cynic, I am afraid I would melt into a black, tarry substance within seconds of exposure.
Terminator III’s Nick Stahl is no longer missing- fortunately he’s alive and well and in rehab. His wife was not on his contact list, hence her not hearing from him in 10 days.
Good 3rd chapters of series- NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET III: DREAM WARRIORS is the best of the sequels; EXORCIST III: LEGION actually manages to be better than the original!
THE GREY was a fantastic film- I didn’t realize until afterwards that he’s playing a suicidal man whose wife recently died….
The King of Alternate endings is ROAD TRIP, with Paul Walker and Steve Zahn- an unnoficial remake of DUEL. It has SIX ALTERNATE ENDINGS, one of which goes for a full half hour!
Koalas did something terrible? I suppose that explains why 80% of them have Chlamydia. I assume Giant Pandas did something really good, seeing as how they’ve recently had their status as bears reconfirmed.
I like humbugs, but I got immunized to them early by being fed them by elderly relatives…
I can whistle, but I can’t blow bubblegum bubbles. To this day I am mad about this.
BAGS of milk? I remember bottles, and now we have cartons, but bags? That way lies madness!
Hi Gavin,
I don’t know if you’ve checked out our links post, but there is a short video featuring Canada’s weird milk in bags. It will most certainly blow your mind! http://www.sneakydragon.com/links-9.html
It’s A Wonderful Life is not as icky as people make it sound although it does have a sort of corny ending. Unfortunately not uncommon in movies of that time. Meet John Doe – also by Capra – sets up this great, dark, cynical plot and then completely backs away from it at the end of the movie. There is an interesting movie I think called The Whole Town’s Talking starring Jean Arthur. You can practically see in the movie when the Hayes office began during filming. The plot takes a sudden unnatural U-turn into sappiness in the middle of the movie. It’s fascinating.
I watched Road Trip on DVD too and was amazed at all the alternative endings! Was that directed by John Dahl? I remember liking it, but I’m a bit of a Steve Zahn fan.
Squish the gum against your front teeth, poke out a bit between your teeth and then blow.
Everyone knows someone like me. I’m one million in a million!
