Hello, partygoers! Welcome back to the most popular music podcast hosted by a father and his daughter! Now that’s narrow-casting!
This week: Mary brings side two of Laundromancer – her playlist designed to be listened to while folding clothes. However, Mary hs informed us that it can also be listened to while doing other mundane tasks so feel free to play it while you wash dishes, scrub the floor or clean the bathroom!

I tested out the laundry-folding suitability of the last two Listening Parties on my own laundry but alas the amount of laundry I had to fold did not outlast more than one song as I am a pretty fast folder. So I did some kitchen cabinet washing as well. The mellowness of the songs does help with those unpleasant chores. Good choices, Mary.
I love the B.J. Thomas/Burt Bacharach/Herb Alpert era so damn much. Talking about these artists sends me back to when I listened to my Dad’s albums as a kid. We had a stereo in our spare room of the house and I could lay on this ugly orange fabric sofa and listen to whatever I wanted as long as I put the albums back where I found them. Dad still has all his Herb Alpert, Burt Bacharach and B.J. Thomas albums to this day but as you mentioned these three…along with Dusty Springfield, you came dangerously close to one of my all-time favorite soundtracks, Casino Royale (1967)!! I remember listening to this album more than anything else of my Dad’s and I used to put a small pencil mark next to the songs I liked best on the sleeve. Bacharach and Alpert’s collaboration along with Springfield’s “The Look of Love” is a soundtrack I still listen to even today, and I have the complete and extended version too. It takes me back, as good music should and even though it should remind me of the God-awful film it was composed for, it just takes me back to that ugly orange sofa.
Congrats Mary! on an enjoyable and worthwhile mix!!
Your podcast makes my “every other week” so much that I listen to each episode twice!!
Sloughing off? Sloughing off?!
Well, sir, if you think insulting your devoted listeners is going to get us commenting again, um, I guess you may have a point.
Great mix, Mary – despite your reservations, I liked the ending.
Another great show. Stand-out tracks for me were Nick Drake, Midlake and Band of Horses (this week’s winner, and not just because of their awesome name!).
