Hello, partygoers! Well, as the saying goes: better late than never!
We apologize for our tardiness this week. Needless to say, thisngs were really hopping in Stu-Stu-Studio this week! (Please check out Episode 424 of Sneaky Dragon for the whole, crazy, forgetting-your-left-arm story.) Thankfully, Mary stepped up to the plate and provided her own playlist and took the notes this week.
So, grab a comfy chair, and settle down in the Listening Party Rumpus Room to hear:
- Boy – “Black Cat” – Every Page You Turn, 2004
- Big Star – “Thirteen” – #1 Record, 1972
- Jeffrey Frederick and the Clamtones – “Singing to the Dentist” – Spiders in the Moonlight, 1977
- Elliot Smith – “Baby Britain” – X/O, 1998
- Caroline Peyton – “Engram” – Wayfaring Strangers: Ladies from the Canyon, 2006 [from her debut album Mock Up, 1972]
- The Mohawk Lodge – “Wear ‘Em Out” – Wildfires, 2007
- Akron/Family – “Gone Beyond” – Meek Warrior, 2004
- The Besnard Lakes – “Disaster” – …are the Dark Horse, 2004
- Sufjan Stevens – “The Henney Buggy Band” – The Avalanche, 2006
Thanks for listening. Rock on!
You see! It really is an ugly cover!

Bravo, Mary, Dave and Dave 3000! ‘Robots don’t laugh’ and ‘Chickens can’t whistle’ should definitely be book titles. I”m thinking children’s noir, and if that isn’t a genre, it ought to be.
As a fellow devotee of melancholy and autumn (as we call fall in these parts), I thought this was a fantastic mixtape.
Big Star. Wow. Makes me wanna cry, that one. So great.
