Hello, Sneakers! Well, apparently Dave both jumped the gun and missed the train when he declared last week’s show their sixth anniversary. Some simple math would tell you that 362 weeks is in no way six years, but when it comes to math, Dave is pretty simple. So, last week’s show was nothing special and so is this week’s EXCEPT we have two very special guests today: Nina Matsumoto, our very own third dragon, and Bob Mackey, host of such big-time podcasts as Talking Simpsons, What A Cartoon and Retronauts.
So join Ian, Dave, Nina and Bob as they talk about Ian’s luxurious mansion; Nina’s t-shirt job; Sunset Riders; Ghosts and Goblins and Ghouls and Ghosts; exploding Hitler head; Dave’s shocking no more Stan Lee cameos please; uncanny Cushing; Darth Hilarious; Spaceballs love; The Bradleys versus The Simpsons; doob van; Christmas Ape and canon; meeting Matt Groening; being a popular podcast; what movie is Dave thinking of; the Mid-Atlantic accent; Young Frasier; Big John, Little John; Detective Conan; Kroftt garbage shows; Cookiepuss, livin’ the podcast dream; Ian’s favourite Simpsons episode; Kids in the Hall book talk; Canadian accents; riding bear back; perogy-gate!; you can’t do You Can’t Do That On TV Anymore; Ian has a bone to pick; episodic through lines; meet ugly; awkward after joke pauses; manzai; Mad moments; behind-the-senes at Sparks!; and, finally, under-rated video games according to Nina: Star Control 2 (and its freeware associate Ur-Quan Masters).
Thanks for listening.

Great show. Now I’m hungry for perogies and Nanaimo bars! At my house, we’re very excited that there’s a new Ukrainian restaurant and bakery under construction nearby on Victoria Drive…Kozak’s Ukrainian Eatery. Their menu boats 6 varieties of savory and sweet perogies. Yum! In their windows, they put up “coming soon” signs like “Not another ramen restaurant!” Them’s fighting words.
Happy American Thanksgiving week to Bob. We hope that his nation will have more to be happy about and thankful for in the coming year.
Re: the bullying jock stereotype. Unfortunately, I think it is still a thing as illustrated by the recent incidents at St. Michael’s private school in Toronto involving members of their basketball team. And it seems the dumb jock stereotype is also still a thing as more and more of these incidents are caught on cell phone video and circulated on social media…sometimes by the perpetrators themselves.
Update: football and basketball teams.
