Hola, Sneakerinos! Lucky you, we have a brand new Sneaky Dragon for all our friends. This week, Ian and Dave discuss tin cans and how phones don’t work; act as juggalo magnets; continue their Drop the Micronauts podcast; throw out their toys; talk invisible biplanes; review the new Ghostbusters; disagree on the best car chase; laud Netflix; love Stranger Things; see Dario’s Inferno; laugh at the MST3K reunion; and give out some awkward meeting advice
And please don’t forget to think up some questions for our upcoming Listener’s Questions Episode. As per usual, we’ll have goody bags for all participants and a grand prize that we’ll raffle off to one lucky questioneer. Every question equals one chance so the more questions you ask – the more chances you have to win! Contact us via Twitter, Facebook, email (you can click on the boxes on the right hand side of the screen) or write to us via the comments section here on the website.
Thanks for listening.
Ian and Dave highly recommend this show:
The movie is not much more coherent than this trailer:
A fun look at the Minneapolis history of MST3K and a behind-the-scenes look at the reunion:

I had an Absorbing Man story in my head for years where he basically used that Atom-Travels-Through-The-Phone trick! Stupid Atom!
Really enjoyed this episode as last week’s; no need to apologize for rambling Dave, you had me in DePalma your hand! I’m curious if other listeners are waiting two weeks to listen to each night’s episode back-to-back.
Side note for fellow MiniWheat lovers who may be on a budget, Wal-Mart has a store brand (Sally’s) that’s less than $3 for 700g, at least in my neck of the woods.
Contains *Spoilers* for the new Ghostbusters movie.
Regarding Kevin as played by Chris Hemsworth. Aside from being a “himbo” (or “oblivious guy”, as Ian sees it), I thought his character also checked the boxes on a couple of other comedy archetypes:
Incompetent Receptionist – Typical gag: announces a visitor after the visitor has already made him/herself known to the intended visitee.
Self-absorbed Aspiring Actor – I liked the “Which photo makes me look more like a doctor?” bit. (Nice dig at the Hollywood casting process. Just look up the imdb.com picture gallery of any hunky young male actor, and there will usually be a photo of him shirtless.)
Possession Vessel – I didn’t think this part of his performance was that effective. It was there in the writing, but he could have created a stronger illusion of being inhabited by another entity. Melissa McCarthy did it better in this movie. And Sigourney Weaver did it really well in the original.
I think one of the reasons the gender flip on the dumb secretary stereotype is palatable is that most of us know that Chris Hemsworth is the same actor who plays uber-alpha guy-god Thor. He has a certain amount of box office power in the industry so he doesn’t lose any status by playing a character who is laughed at and lusted after.
I love the new and improved Ghostbusters cameo ideas. Maybe their reality show could be called the Ghast Blasters or the Ghoul Schoolers!
