Sneaky-Dragon-Episode-189

Hello, you sneaky Sneakers! This week on Sneaky Dragon things are as serious as a heart attack. First off, Ian’s got nothin’; Dave’s under arrest; we ask: “Arby’s?…Really?”; Doo-doo-doo-doodoodoodoodoo, doodoodoo, doo-doo-doo-doodoodoodoodoo, doodoodoo; a dollop of Trollope; it’s the fuckin’ Dave Show; travel tips; turn the other cheek; Ian was at the San Diego Comic Con and he has the ambivalence to prove it; uncomfortable coughing; Ian enjoys single X pornography; he played a really tricky video game called Cuphead; he confronted religious crazies; we love minutiae; Dave is now a gentleman of leisure; we prove that Dave is terrible at job interviews; and, finally, please hire Dave.

  1. Gosh… so much fucking swearing… I’m not sure what to say to Ian anymore that won’t upset him! ” Hi Ian, what’re you working on?” “Fuck you to the burning pits of HELL!” I tried reading Tristam Shandy but I couldn’t understand the language. There is a graphic novel version of Tristam Shandy… I couldn’t understand it either. I wish I could hire Dave to sharpen my pencils but I cannot. The reason nobody goes to plays is that in Vancouver after everyone’s paid 90% of their income on housing nobody has any money.

  2. Hi guys,

Really enjoyed the Dave Show this week.

Have a few comments on the interview/ resume stuff you discussed.

If they ask you if you have any questions, they are expecting you to ask something. Me personally, I go with something kind of technical. I work in finance. My go to is usually “what accounting software do you use”. Then their answer gives me an opportunity to list off the software I have experience with. So I would suggest in advance think of a few questions that directly relate to the job and the things you would do. The only problem is, is phone interviews are often done by HR or people outside of the department directly, so they may not know the answers. But that doesn’t matter so much, because it lets them see you know what you’re talking about.

Now I’ve had super long interviews where I’ve asked questions throughout. I think in that case, its OK to say something to the effect of “you have been so thorough in providing all the information I need, I feel you’ve already answered all the questions I have”.

In regards to the resume, I think its important to put outside interests on it, but not too much detail. Employers want to know you have a more rounded life than just work, but they don’t want too much information. So I play in bands. I don’t put the names of my bands and the timeline etc. Last section I have Interests, then I list writing and performing music, walking my dogs, and cycling. Sort of interesting stuff, and if they are curious, they will ask.

So under your interests you could put drawing, art, podcasting, etc. Some interviewers will be interested in that stuff some won’t. So done briefly like that, if they aren’t interested, they will ignore it, if they are they will ask, and you can expand on it from there.
Hope this stuff helps. Good luck with the job hunt.

    Ken
