With Mike Roberds! This week on Sneaky Dragon, Ian and David are joined by actor, writer, raconteur and all-around good guy Mike Roberds to talk about Mike’s Hispanic background; Ian brings up the Chipmunks (again!) – they might be the only band he knows; Dave bemoans the disappearing novelty song (but does he even watch YouTube, you might ask); Mike likes TV movies and Dave wonders about a James Garner one (it may not have been a TV movie); Ian helps everyone by fixing the 1994 Maverick (only Ian knew it needed to be fixed); Mike’s looking for a movie – if anyone has or knows where to find a version of Won Ton Ton: The Dog Who Saved Hollywood please contact Mike through Sneaky Dragon; Mike tells us his adventures working on the set of the Martin Short film Jiminy Glick in LaLaWood; Mike reveals he’s from Langley (that explains a lot); Dave disses Cheech and Chong; Mike asks about comedies that disappointed us and Dave asks about comedies that we never heard of that surprised us; and finally, Ian and Mike have a quick talk about horror comedies, but it’s a subject for the next time we have Mike on the show.
You can catch Mike Roberds every Thursday at 10:00 on The Shift with Michael Eckford on CKNW where he talks about movies.
Dept. of Corrections Corrections: Dave was confused (as usual): Katherine Ross is indeed the love interest in the James Garner film They Only Kill Their Masters; Kathryn Herrold played the blind love interest on The Rockford Files.
Thanks for listening.

Really sorry to hear about the passing of James Garner. One of the best!
“Jiminy Glick In LaLaWood” was a full-length movie, not a Short film, and Steve Martin wasn’t in it.
IMDB lists Steve Martin as playing himself, but I bow to David’s superior knowledge over dumb ol’IMDB and I’m not being sarcastic.
For the purpose of my joke, let’s pretend that I’ve already watched the video of “Jiminy Glick In LaLaWood” that’s been sitting on my Unwatched DVD shelf for several years, and I am correct. I’ll get back to you in about 90 minutes otherwise.
Mike Roberds is one of my favourite guests on the show. Good times!
Whoops, I hadn’t finished listening to the episode before making this comment. The fact that he’s one of my favourites came straight from the heart! I swear they didn’t make me say it, Mike!
Thanks, Nina! I appreciate that! I love being a guest on their show and I hope they’ll be guests on mine – Sez You! – if I ever do it! lol
Okay, there’s literally ONE SECOND of what is probably file footage of Steve Martin silently grinning during an opening credit sequence montage of fake Toronto movie festival footage. ONE SECOND. SILENT. You’re technically correct, IMBD, but fuck you. If I ever watch the rest of the movie (it does look kind of funny) and Steve Martin is actually in this movie, I will apologize.
Okay, so Steve Martin does get fake-interviewed for about 4 minutes in the second half of the movie. I mean, how is that even a movie? I must start watching the items on my Unwatched DVD shelf.
The Unwatched DVD Shelf sounds like the modern version of The Land of Misfit Toys. Please write a song about it right away. Thank you.
And Nina, thank you but Mike never appeared on the TV series Good Times. I think you might be mistaking him for Janet Jackson.
I didn’t think Jimuny Glick in LaLaWood would be this controversial!
I am waiting to hear the reaction to Norman Wisdom. A lot of tripping and calling on “Mr Grimsdale” from what i remember as a kid.
