What’s the greatest escape? Getting lost in a delightful podcast episode discussing the 1963 Steve McQueen classic (with surprisingly little Steve McQueen).
Our hosts Jason Dedrick, Eric Fell and Vicky Van spend some time in the cooler that is Hellkitty Studios in the wintertime going over their memories of the film.
They also enjoy a beverage called The Grape Escape.

If you’d rather see a full on happy ending, this video game has you covered…
The gang also make up their own tribute drink, the TUNNEL VISION, which the producer’s wife says has a very nice aftertaste, but needs more schnapps.
Here’s how to make it:
- 2 oz Scotch Whiskey
- 1 oz Butter Ripple Schnapps
- Pour over ice
- Scrounge up a picture of James Garner, put it on a toothpick and use it as a James Garnish
They also have some delicious Heroes mini candy.
If you do make the The Grape Escape or Tunnel Vision or come up with one of your own, please send a picture to sneakyd@sneakydragon.com by following this link! Even if you don’t, we’d still love to hear from you.

I first saw The Great Escape after school on TV. One of our channels showed big Hollywood movies in the afternoon and this one was shown over two days. I remember the ending packed an unexpected punch. My drink would be a Tom Collins that I’d call the Tom, Dick & Harry Collins. It would have the same ingredients (gin, simple syrup, lemon, and soda water) only instead of ice cubes I’d serve it over shaved ice (that’s the Harry part) and I’d toss in some dried currants (such as you’d find in a Spotted Dick pudding) as a garnish which you would have to dig out with a spoon.
Addendum:
Katy bought the movie on 4K disc.
