We had a lot of fun last week at Dave’s Surprise Birthday Party as you can see in the photos below. We would like to thank all our friends and guests for dropping by and sharing in the celebration of the big rollover of Dave’s age odometer.
Here’s a picture of the gang with Dave behind the camera:
And now Ian replaces Dave who takes his rightful place in the midst of the fun:
What a group of beautiful people! And speaking of beautiful, Dave also received some wonderful, handmade gifts and cards from friends and we had to share them with you as well.
First time guest of the show, Louise Moon referenced Dave’s love of Jane Austen with her ode to period costume drama:
Louise also used Dave’s trick of re-using the same three-quarter shot of Sneaky Dragon in every drawing. More importantly, Louise included five dollars with the card. Thanks, Louise!
David Fine and Alison Snowden’s card was thematically connected to Dave’s gift of the two-record set The Beatles Story:
Please note it says “A Hard Dave’s Night”. Also, Dave likes to make goofy faces in photographs.
Dave’s cousin Jason dug up Dave’s old comic Rounders to make this cut-up birthday card that is both funny and cringe-inducing to Dave as he looks at old, old drawings:
(This image includes both the front and the inside of the card.) Thanks, Jason!
Dave and Ian’s friend Susan Ferguson was also kind enough to make a beautiful card for Dave with her signature animal drawings:
So cute, right? Thanks, Susan!
And Ian’s co-conspirator on Futurama comics and Sneaky Dragon’s next-door neighbour Jame Lloyd made this wonderful, watercoloured card for Dave:
Damn you, James, for drawing Sneaky Dragon better than Dave! Also, thanks!
And, finally, a wonderful sew-on patch designed by Kathleen Gros:
That sums it up pretty well.
Once again, thanks to our friends for dropping by for Dave’s partycast and thanks to all our listeners for their birthday greetings and cards. Mucho appreciated by Dave!
