I have been seriously slacking on coming up with questions. I have one, essentially, and then the default question I always have to ask.
1) I didn’t really know what exactly coloring was, so I looked it up to get a better feel for what it involved, but I’d be more interested to hear David describe your own personal methods. One particular thing I noticed, which seems to be at least partly in the realm of coloring, is when Kip remembers his past and the pictures change to a more child-like, maybe coloring book marker style. How does a decision like that come about, and how does it change your technique?
2) How are your cats? (Y’know, the real ones.) The more detail and cute stories, the better.
Oh, hey, that made me think of a third one:
3) Ian, how much of Mannequin on the Moon is directly inspired by your cat(s), and how much is just based on general cat behavior? Are there any specific comics that came about from actual incidents (like that time one of them woke you up with their lawyer, which MUST have actually happened and I refuse to believe otherwise)? I always love the cat-related comics the most, because as surreal as they can be, they always encapsulate cat-ness perfectly. Cat people know cats!
