This week’s episode is the last of our convention spectaculars and is a bits and pieces episode too as we have little bits from Emerald City and FanExpo that were too short to make their own show. Our first guest is Shannon Wheeler, who was kind of enough to give us the time to do the interview, but unfortunately the only place that worked was a really noisy bar. I can promise you there’s a lot of ambiance! Ian, Dave and Shannon take about his newest book, with Mark Russell, God Is Disappointed in You – a wonderfully humorous and rich re-telling of the Bible; as well as his work in opera; becoming a cartoonist with The New Yorker; and his constant desire to improve as an artist and writer. Following Shannon, we have the beautiful Gail Simone, who has been a long-time writer for DC on Birds of Prey and Secret Six and more recently on Cat Woman. Gail was nice enough to talk to Ian and Dave about how she got into comics professionally, what she tries to do as a writer and what projects she has coming up. Finally, it’s just Ian and Dave at FanExpo where they talk about Easter; 4-20 day and the end of Dave’s sugar fast. They are also interrupted a lot, give change, try to figure out if you can be step-royalty and we briefly meet listener, Maire Hook.
