Hooray! We completed our first podcast episode. It wasn’t as easy as I’d hoped, but we did it. Please excuse some of the roughness in the audio quality. We promise to have it fixed for the next episode (or at least try to have it fixed).
In this, one of the nerdiest podcast episodes to ever appear in the history of the world wide web, Star Trek and Batman are insulted by Dave; Ian manhandles Lord of the Rings; Muppets are praised and the Star Wars prequels are finally discussed at length (because you know the Internet has been waiting for that). Also we pick our favourite dragon. (Spoiler: No one picks Pete’s Dragon.)
Well, I suppose it’s best to get all that out of the way right at the beginning.

Hey Dave and Ian,
great job with the podcast. It gave me a good laugh this morning.
I’m with you on Return of the Jedi. I was really disappointed with this instalment after really liking the first two. When my friends and I saw it in the theatre as a teen, the audience booed Darth’s unveiling as a potato head. In hindsight, this was not so bad compared to the dreadful prequels.
Mike
Thanks, Mike! Yep, my heart sank at the reveal of Vader too. It’s a fundamental rule in movie-making: if you can help it, never show the monster.
I felt much the same about the reveal of Dr. Claw’s face in the Inspector Gadget films, but you aren’t aware of those yet as they will happen far in the future. In other news, these original comments were posted on my B’day 4 years ago.
Sorry, Chris, your comments were lost in a time vortex, I guess, because I just saw them in my Comments feed! I feel terrible.
It was odd when the action figure came out just showing what Dr. Claw looked like. It’d be like Twin Peaks action figures coming out with one called “Laura Palmer’s Murderer”.
